What are the options for a small Braille display that can be used with the iPhone 5s? I'd like to spend under $1000 US if possible.

Unless you are buying used, I think your only option under $1000 is probably the
BraillePen 12. It is a 12 cell bluetooth display with a braille input keyboard. I have one, it
works fairly well, although I find 12 cells very limiting, but it is all right for navigating
around the phone or entering text instead of on the phone.

There are 14 cell models and even 18 cell ones, but they are going to be about $1300 I
think for the Focus 14 Blue and more expensive for the 18 cell models.
Don't quote me on prices, but I think those were the prices the last time I checked.
Of course, you may find 18 cell or 14 cell displays used for under $1000.

I own a Focus 14. I highly recomend it. It's a brilliant machine.
